2007 Eulogy: At the time I began looking, I was really just look for "a dog." I had several possible breeds in mind, but I wasn't set on a Dalmatian.
When I first went to see Chip he was just five and one-half weeks old. He was just one of a litter of 13 puppies and had been past over by five others who had met him before I did. I didn't know it at the time, but, I didn't choose him .... he actually picked me. It was real easy, He walking right over to me, and licking my hand. When I got him home a few weeks later, it was quickly apparent that he was very smart. It took less than one week to paper-train him and he was housebroke in just over 3 weeks. I was told by several people (including the breeder) that it would easily be several months before he would take to any kind of training. But I tried anyway, and with a little hard work he could "sit" "stay" "come" and "lay down" by the time he was 16 weeks old. He was really turning out to be a great dog. He was filled with energy, and as he grew he need more and more exercise.... It was time to start going for walks. The first few weeks just about killed me. At the time I was smoking about one pack of cigarettes a day, and by the time we would get two blocks from home I couldn't catch my breath. At that time I decided I'd have to quit smoking or find Chip a new home. So I quit! (Thanks Chip).
Chip was the kind of dog that made friends very easily! If I liked them, he liked them. And his friends were not just of the two footed variety. He had some really great four footed friends too. His best friends and playmates were Zeb & Colter, (two Black Labs), Hoss, (a White German Shepard), Polly, a Brittany Spaniel and Sarge, (another Black Lab). They were best friends, and really liked to hang out with each other. When they got together they would chase each other around, wrestle in the grass, chase rabbits and sometimes they would just hang out and bark at the humans that walked by. Chip enjoyed the outdoors, but he was more of an indoor dog. But most of all, he just wanted to hang out with me. He didn't really care where it was, as long as we were together. Now that he's gone, that's what I'm going to miss the most. I'll miss that happy look and the wag of the tail he always gave when I walked through the door. --- Your Journey
Here is Over, but You will Always be Remembered ... Until We Meet Again on the
