It has been almost 3 years. It was on a warm and sunny Saturday morning, that I
said goodbye to my "Best Friend" of 15 1/2 years. The date was
7-28-07. From now on, the last Saturday in July will be a special day
around here. It will be set aside to remember the life of my very
special friend.
The pain of his loss is pretty much behind me now. I choose to remember him
for the beauty of his life and the many good times that we shared. His
Memorial Garden stands as a testament to his life as well as his memory. I tend to it, just as I
watched over him in life. The love and caring I put into it, is my way
of showing him I still think of him each and every day.
THE DEDICATION SPEECH:
This memorial garden is dedicated to the life and memory of one who possessed
true Beauty without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without
Ferocity, and possessed all of the Virtues of Man, without having any of
his Vices.
This praise might be
considered to be merely unmeaning flattery if it were inscribed for a
human. But is truly a just tribute to the memory of Chocolate Chip, a
most wonderful Dog who visited us and graced our lives for just a short
time.
He was "just a dog" to most, a
"good dog" to many, a "great dog" to a very few, But
to Me, he was my best friend, my confidant and my brother in arms for
more than 15 years.
Until We Meet Again, Rest In Peace
