Hi,
My name is Neka. I'm a three year old Female
German Shepherd and
Siberian Husky mix.
I've been living
with my new owner for over one year now, and I really
like it here! My human is very nice to me and spends
quite a bit of time playing with me. We watch TV, go for walks, and sit on the front porch and watch all of the other
humans go by.
When I first moved here, I was kind of
unsure of things. By that I mean, I wasn't really sure what was expected of me.
It
didn't take long for me to relax because my new human showed me
what was expected of me by setting up clear rules and boundaries
for me to follow. I've got the hang
of what he expects from me now, and we have really hit it
off. I think he likes me just as much as I like him!
My move from
"doggie
jail" to my new home was really pretty easy. It's a lot more quiet
here and I get more attention too. The people at the
shelter were great, but I really like the one-on-one
treatment I get here.
What made the move
really nice, was that my human works at home. I like the
fact that he's able to hang out with me most of the
time. The only bad part about him working at home is,
that he has to leave from time to time and I sometimes have to go
thru him leaving more than once a day. When he
leaves, I usually go to the window and watch him leave,
then I go down stairs to where he made a
nice bed for me, or I just kick back in the living room
and take a nap. At night, I get to sleep at the foot of
his bed and keep him safe.
When
I'm not in the house, I get to hang out in a huge back
yard. I have a big area to play because my rope is
attached to a pulley that runs on a 100' cable.
Sometimes I just hang
out under a shade tree, and other times I do my workout
by running up and down the long cable.
I've always considered
myself a people dog, so it's kind of nice that people
drop by from time to time. I get to meet most of them and
they all take the time to say hello and pet me. I like
that!!!!
I
also have some great dog friends that live down the
street. Man, (no pun intended), are these guys a
laid back bunch.
There are four of them.
Three of them are Black Labs and One of them is a White
German Shepherd. My human take me down to see them several
times a week and I get to play with all of them.
The German Shepherd is
a really old guy (13 years old) and he's kind of
an "ol' grump" sometimes. He really doesn't have much
time for me, but we still get along together!
The
Labs are fun and they love to run and play when they're
out. The one they call "Sarge" has still got a lot of
puppy in him and he is always getting into stuff and
picking on the other two. He's kind of crazy, but he's a
lot of fun to hang out with and we love to wrestle and
chase each other around the yard.
There is a little White
dog behind the fence next door too. Her name is "Babe" and she's a
Bichon.
She barks a lot, but she's always nice to me.
If I would have to pick
one word to describe my life, I would have to pick the work
"LUCKY" because I feel that I'm a very
lucky dog! I'm lucky because I get a second chance to have
"the good life".
Sure, I may have had a tough
time when I was a stray and even when I was in doggie jail, but
that was then ..... And as we all know, dog's don't live
in the past, we live in "the now".
I'm happy, I'm
healthy, I have a great
human who loves me and takes care of me. He plays with
me, trains me, I have a nice place to live, and I get
to eat, sleep and play whenever I want to. So I ask
you, what else could a
dog really want out of life?
